Sonya Borrero MD, MS
Dr. Borrero is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Women’s Health Research and Promotion (CWHRI) at the University of Pittsburgh. She is also a core faculty member at the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) and a staff physician in the VA Pittsburgh’s women’s health clinic. Dr. Borrero’s work strives to advance reproductive health equity. Her research has specifically focused on understanding multilevel influences on contraceptive and pregnancy decision making in vulnerable populations in order to identify targets for interventions that will decrease women’s risk for undesired pregnancy.
Kelly Nestman, BA
Administrator and Program Coordinator
Ms. Nestman has a passion for reproductive justice, having interned with Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania and graduated from Chatham College for Women with a Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies. Ms. Nestman has lobbied for abortion access and organized community events to educate college students. She was the first intern for the Women’s Institute at Chatham University and was a recipient of the Hollander Award for Women’s Leadership. She serves on the YWCA Young Leaders Board, the Adagio Health Young Leaders Council and is a participant in Coro Pittsburgh’s Women in Leadership. She is currently enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh’s Law School, pursuing her Master of Studies in Law.
